Where we are:

Located in East Alaska in the middle of the beautiful Copper Valley and at the gateway to the Wrangell ~ St. Elias National Park (our nations largest) we are on the Alaska highway system, easily accessible by RV, car, private aircraft, motorcycle and bicycle.

Note: There is one thing about Alaska that you will soon discover. Distances between destinations are significant and you need to plan well when scheduling your trip. The up side to this is that no matter where you are driving the scenery is breathtaking, the wildlife abundant (especially early in the AM) and the roads, while not up to the standards of some of the major freeways in the lower 48 are, for the most part, paved and kept in very good condition. The secret here is to not push it too hard. Stay within the speed limits, allow ample time between destinaions and enjoy the drive.

You will find us on the Richardson Highway at its juncture with the Tok Cut-off, about 200 miles east and a little north of Anchorage (driving time about 3.5 hours), 235 miles south of Fairbanks (driving time about 4.25 hours), 130 miles north of Valdez (driving time about 2.5 hours) and 125 miles west of Tok (driving time about 2.5 hours).

To get here follow these directions:

From Anchorage:
Drive to Sixth Avenue in downtown Anchorage. This is a one way street heading east. Once on Sixth Avenue follow it right out of town. It becomes the Glenn Highway and will take you to Glennallen. Continue through Eagle River, Palmer, and up over the Chugach mountains (follow the signs to Palmer and Glennallen). Once you arrive in Glennallen you will come to a stop sign (the only one) at the end of the Glenn Highway. Turn left (north) and continue about 12 miles where you will cross the Gulkana River bridge. About 1.5 miles up the hill on your left you will see our Gakona ECO Gas Station. Pull in and report to the clerk at the Gakona Stop 'n Shop Grocery.

From Fairbanks:
Ask about for directions to the Richardson Highway. Once on the Richardson, drive south about 235 miles. You will pass through North Pole, Delta, Paxson and find us at Mile 128.5 where it meets the Tok Cut-off. We are very visible on your right and marked with a large sign over our Gakona ECO Gas Station. Pull in and report to the clerk at the Gakona Stop 'n Shop Groceryconvenience store.

From Valdez
To find us from Valdez it is quick and easy. Simply drive north on the Richardson Highway for about 130 miles. After you cross the Gulkana River Bridge (about the fifth major river bridge you will cross) you will find us about 1.5 miles at the top of the hill.  On your left and will see our ECO Gas Station. Upon arrival report to the clerk at the Gakona Stop 'n Shop Grocery convience store.

From Tok:
At Young's Chevron Station (the intersection of the Alaska Highway and the Tok Cut-Off) in Tok turn south (left if you are entering from Canada) onto the Tok Cut-off (also an extension of the Glenn Highway from Anchorage) and drive about 125 miles to the stop sign. Once there look left and you will see our Gakona ECO Gas Station. Upon arrival report to the clerk at the Gakona Stop 'n Shop Grocery convenience store.

From Denali:
There are three ways to get to us from Denali. You can drive north through Fairbanks and follow the above directions, drive south to Palmer and follow the directions noted in Anchorage above or, the quickest way is to drive across the Denali Highway from Cantwell. Even though this is an unpaved road, it is kept in good passable condition all summer to accommodate motor coaches, RV's and automobiles that travel daily from Denali to the Copper Valley, Valdez and Canada.

Directions are easy. From Denali travel south on the Parks Highway to Cantwell. At this major intersection, turn left and continue across the Denali Highway for about 135 miles. The first 10 miles and the last 22 miles of the Denali Highway are paved. At the end of the road the Denali Highway will juncture with the Richardson Highway at Paxson. Turn right (south) and continue on until you come to Mile 128.5. Here the Richardson Highway junctures with the Tok Cut-off. Look right. You will see our Gakona ECO Gas Station. Upon arrival report to the clerk at the Gakona Stop 'n Shop Grocery convience store
